On the other hand, there is also something to be said for taking a semi-wreck and using it to learn restoration techniques. Better to learn and experiment on something where value or even sentimentality is not a concern.tictalk wrote: Wed Feb 09, 2022 5:07 pm I guess I'm not as sentimental as maybe I should be, my criteria is simple, If the end monetary value of the machine is not worth the time and money put into it to restore it , then sell it as is or part it out, You Can't Save Every Puppy In The Pound, Others can take your parts and bring machines that are perhaps in better condition back to life. If no one ever parted a machine out there sure would be a lot of incomplete projects out there.
Restore it, or part it out?

I'm going to pile on to this as well. I have restored several machines that were not worth the time or money I put into them. Without working on those beat up machines of less value, I probably wouldn't have tackled (or messed up) the nicer machines I keep around the house today.martinola wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:40 am^ Exactly my feelings.52089 wrote: Wed Feb 09, 2022 5:42 pm On the other hand, there is also something to be said for taking a semi-wreck and using it to learn restoration techniques.
