FOR SALE: Berliner Motor #34371 from Japan

Post by gstone »

Really nice Berliner motor! Very quiet, runs great. Only replacement part is the speed control spring. This motor will go to a 1899 Model that was made between Feb 1899 to April 1900. But it will also fit the 1898 model as well. Per the reply below, it appears to a knock off from the 70's? Fooled me but if that is the case then make a reasonable offer and its yours.

Just an FYI, any Berliner motors bearing serial number 34371 in this font style come out of a late 1970's Japanese made copy of a trademark machine. So you may want to revise your listing accordingly.
Hope this helps.

I understand that the screws are all metric on the copy motors. . .

Although somewhat related, I thought I would also mention any Clark-Johnson sound boxes with Serial number 18425 with font type like this are also from the Japanese copies.

Sorry I don't mean to highjack your thread.

I can't help but indulge in some relative time frames in this situation. I'm doing this more and more often these days...

This Japanese Berliner motor is 46 years old. At the time it appeared in 1976, a 46 year-old phonograph would have been manufactured in 1930.
