The Cail-O-Phone - How Does That Coin-Operated Phonograph Work?

Post by Shawn »

It was time to produce another coin-operated video for my series - "How Does That Coin-Operated Phonograph Work?"

So I did!!!

The Cail-O-Phone is the absolute most well built coin-operated phonograph I have encountered to date. It is a wonderful player.

Enjoy the video.

Hey, Shawn, that's really nice!
The fact they started from scratch designing the whole mechanism seems to have made sense. Not having to jerry-rig an established "home" model kept it much simpler.
Do you know if there were any patent infringement lawsuits over this?
Thanks for the beautifully-done video!

Bob,

Thanks for the kind comments. I am glad you enjoyed learning about the Cail-O-Phone.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of them being sued (I bet at least one person on the forum knows if they were or weren't), though its hard to believe anyone in the phonograph business wasn't being sued at some point. It was a very litigious business.

Here is the patent that they based the machine on.

Be well.
