It is disappointing that the Goodwill Store, or Charity Shop as we call such places in the UK, also seems unaware of what they have.
Most UK charity shops now have volunteers with sufficient knowledge to identify potentially valuable items.

Goodwill is a special chain of thrift stores (thrift store is the US version of charity shop) that claims to be non-profit, while still trying to get top dollar for somebody else's junk, hence the online auction system they set up for themselves. It's rare for something that's easily identifiable as valuable/collectible to be marked cheaply or even make it onto the store shelf. Items also get redistributed between store locations, as each store has a certain amount of space for each type of times. There are also for-profit thrift stores in the US, and plenty of non-chain thrift stores.

Packing appears to be an art form that sadly few have mastered. I think out of the few hundred items I've bought online over the past few years I can probably count on one finger the number of securely packaged items which the seller has invested more than 50 seconds of his / her time in.

Congrats on this RARE Victor. You got a great deal on it. Is the elbow just bent or are there cracks in it? It looks like the horn is at a lower angle than it should be. I have repaired these elbows in the past. Let me know if you need it worked on.

I noticed that the brake doesn't hit the turntable in the middle. Are the felt washers present between the motor casting and the case top? The alignment of this is critical to the reproducer position when playing a record.

No cracks in the elbow but does have a slight bend/droop.

In the photo the turntable wasn't seated on the locating pin so it was setting higher. That is the alignment problem. I have already replaces the fabric with leather for the brake.

It was missing the crank but I had a spare so that was handy. I am really happy with it.
