Abrams files in Excel form

Post by Inigo »

A couple days ago I submitted this message to the 78-L colleagues. I'm posting it herein in case there's people here interested in dating 78s, and all this stuff which done among us love....
Copied as is...
Some weeks ago someone (pardon my bad memory) marveled about including all Abrams files in a single practical database in EXCEL spreadsheet. I mentioned I had done it, and here it is, together with all Abrams original TXT files, as per October 2003; in this link you'll get my files, shared for anyone's interest.

- LABELS & SONGS files: LABELS has the introduction and explanations on the format of the txt files; SONGS is a list of all tune titles with composers.
- 72 LABEL files total 52.4Mb (each file has the sides sorted by issue number)
50 MATRIX files total 39.7 Mb (same information as above ---allegedly--- but sorted by catalog number instead)
1 XLS file with 339414 registers (made using all files, I don'r remember if it was the LABEL or the MATRIX series) total 26.5 Mb
The XLS file has the dates as given by Abrams (mm/dd/yy), but also arranged in an additional field as yyyy.mmdd for ease of sorting by date correctly.

The real goal now would be to repeat that using the tables in The Online Discographical Project https://www.78discography.com/, which started from these Abrams files, and those of Settlemier, but may be more updated. Maybe these are directly copiable into EXCEL...
