The pasteboard boxes for a dozen cylinders were manufactured by several different outside manufacturers, but not Edison.

The pasteboard boxes are little rough. The better of the two has a filled out maker’s labels on the end, (Lynn was the name of the company and located in Lynn Mass). The box is a nice bonus.

To me, it was well worth eight hours of driving and as an added bonus, I spotted two bald eagles on the trip and got to meet and talk with a very nice person. He was happy to get his asking price and I was happy to have a nice original survivor with extras.

I will be bringing the Model K reproducers you Wayne if anyone is interested.

Edison Standard #28467 left the factory in October 1900.

Here's a chronology of U.S. Edison standard-size cylinder boxes:

I have some of the Type 7 boxes, but mine have a different lid than the one in the link that you shared. I can take some better pictures of the boxes and lids if you would like to use them. It is an attractive lid. Maybe it is common, but I have not seen one before. I have never been very interested in cylinders, but these last two, early Edisons have piqued, (spelling corrected, I never was any good at spelling), my interest.

Yep - those are the typical lid for the Type 7 Edison boxes. No other will fit!
