**Found** Wanted: Wood Horn Phonograph

Post by columbia1spring »

I am looking for a wood horn phonograph. Something beautiful that needs no work and has been serviced and plays nice.
I am looking for the horn to very closely match the cabinet. I am not interested in a dark, original case with a super glossy repro horn, that’s not a good match.
Victor or Columbia or ?
Shipping is a must!

Not all the stuff on eBay is junk, it's just that it's extremely expensive.
There is a guy asking near 6 grand for a poorly repaired mahogany horn (with machine), looks like the handy man got a hold of it.

Maybe you'll have good luck on the forum here.

Let us know how it goes.
The wood horn machines are most desirable.

I have to agree. I know off several great sellers on ebay two of which I will buy from sight unseen. One in NC and one in FL. They are not the cheapest because the product they offer is top shelf.
If someone says I'm too expensive. They're right, I am too expensive, for them. I'm offering quality work and they are looking for value price

About 5% of my sales (on a dollar basis) are on eBay. At the moment my inventory is at an all-time low, partly due to increased sales during the pandemic and a decreased availability of new stock. I often have machines that exactly correspond to the OP’s desires, and of course I ship. But right now there are none that meet his specifications.

BUT, there is no need to generalize and demean the entire range of eBay sellers. Besides myself, there are several others that offer fine machines, and a money-back guarantee if not satisfied. Collectively we take a lot of interest, and pride in our humble businesses and rarely, if ever, have a dissatisfied customer. Much of my business comes from repeat customers, which speaks for itself.

Just because at this moment in time the current offerings are slim, be patient and stuff may pop up that is more in line with what you want. Shows and auctions are starting to happen again and goods will circulate.

Hi Columbia1spring,

The problem with a really nice matching set-up, is that collectors look so long and hard to find what they want, that they are unwilling to part with their machines!
Took me 12 years to finally end up with this super nice original Victor Hump Backed II, and I think it will be one of the last machines I'll part with. ;)

Cheers, Bob S.
