Grand Rapids, MI was a huge center for furniture manufacturing. I suspect that the G.R. Phonograph Co. was first and foremost, a cabinet/furniture manufacturing firm that happened to produce phonographs. Hence, the high-end cabinet, coupled with generic phono components. But then, that was the way with many "off-brand" machines.

The only thing missing from this machine was the key to the lid. But to my surprise I tried a spare Brunswick key I had and it works!
