There are reproduction turntables available with a standard spindle. Use that for your records and just hang on to the original.

Good point Don. I have less than 10 standard records with the large spindal hole in my collection. I would just have to get another turntable like Mike mentioned. Thanks.

I ALWAYS haggle on machines. You never know... they may be willing to go much lower than their original price. I came home with my zonophone machine at half of the guys asking price.

I have dabbled in antiques for about 20 years now, off and on... When I run across external horn machines in the retail setting, the price point is usually $700 or higher [usually higher]. After haggling, I imagine sales prices land down around $500 - $600 for machines like this. If it is original and you like it, anything less than $450 would allow you some enjoyment and the opportunity to get all of your money back and maybe even make some [in the right setting] one day. Be polite and start low with your first offer - you never know.

Disclaimer: I am not a certified appraiser, just an observer of price points and sales in Eastern NC and the state of Virginia. And, I am referring to the retail antique shop setting - not the collecting community. This is just my opinion....

The auction price ended up going over what I was willing to pay at the moment. The same seller of this Harmony also has a few other machines he is selling to downsize getting ready to retire. So I'm trying to work out a deal with him on a Busy Bee and maybe another machine if I have money left over. He also has a Victor 0 for sale for $700.
