I’m convinced I got the 1 in 1000 machines that has some other defect in it no matter how much I try to put it back on! Something is absolutely not lining up! I try do do everything that is said but no dice! All that spring does is Rub against that lever and not move anything!!! Nothing pivots as is claimed and the brake does not touch the governor. I’m convinced it’s that dang spring! I need a different one!
I know everyone is laughing at me right now because I’m so defeated over something simple the problem is I have ZERO experience with a triumph! And I have no people near me that can help figure this out! I still think my spring that holds the thing is bad!
And I’m also very nervous I’ll break the governor spring or something else in the process!
How do I put a brake on a Triumph? 😳

That governor speed control yoke looks pretty funky that you have. Can we see the other side? Either that yoke is badly rusted or a bad reproduction????

YES!! Somebody noticed an extra issue I’m possibly having with my machine! That 1 in 1000 special case something else could be wrong!FellowCollector wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 2:51 pm That governor speed control yoke looks pretty funky that you have. Can we see the other side? This is how an original in good condition should look. Yours appears to have a "dip" in the casting that the spring steel on/off bar uses. Not sure if this is part of your problem but it looks funky to me.

It certainly looks skinnier that what I have. Maybe a contributing factor with why I’m goofing it up so hard. And another question what side of the spring faces down?FellowCollector wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 3:06 pm This is how an original in good condition should look. And another question. Did that Karl Frick guy make parts like this?

Number 1 pointy part fits in #1 divit, (more like a groove actually). Number 2 pointy part fits in #2 divit. Never mind about the screw.

Re: How do I put a brake on a Triumph? 😳
Ok. I’m attempting to follow what Jerry V said and I’m not sure if I put the spring back in on the correct side and the biggest thing is the Governor is really in the way of me getting it in place and now I’m worried about breaking the governor springs while in the process. I’m really having trouble getting that in its position. It’s in too awkward a position just to slide into place. I’m having second thoughts about taking the works out. And putting it in that way. It’s apparent it’s probably gonna take time and money getting another spring and Yolke but at least I have Piece of mind of where it exactly goes.

Shout out to Cheryla aka Dyslexic Genius Hurt for making this video!

I feel more confident that I can do this!
I’ll probably buy an original yolke and another spring to do this. I waited 2 years for this machine I can wait a little longer!

Ok! I think I’ve confirmed that yolke and spring I have are bad. I followed everything said in the video, And put everything into position as said.
I took the works out of its case and turned it over, unscrewed the spring, put the brake where it was supposed to go, put the spring in place and screwed it back in, put the works back into the case, I did everything said and it looked like it sorta worked. I turned the switch a couple times more and once again, It fell out of place, and back to business as usual… I’m with Doug, I think I just have a substandard repro and I’m pretty much convinced my spring is no good either! But can those pivot points where the brake sits get worn off and cause these issues? Does that happen sometimes? Could that a be contributing factor. I definitely got a feel on how to do this now, but I will have to order a different brake and spring.
Hopefully I’ll have this issue fixed when I get new parts to work with. I don’t possibly know what else I could be doing wrong.
Anyway here’s another video of me explaining my problem afterwards.
I wish I could have a better outcome guys, but until I get these 2 parts, this Triumph is out of commission. But at least I understand how to do it correctly.
