The Sounds Of Time - 1934-1949. Very Interesting!

For those with an interest in history here is a fascinating set. "The Sounds of Time, a dramatisation in sound of the years 1934-1949".

It has recordings of Churchil, Roosevelt, King George VI, Attlee, Montgomery, Eisenhower, H.G Wells, Hitler, Mussolini, MacDonald, Baldwin, Weizmann, William Joyce, De Gaulle, J.B Priestley, King George V, Goering, Truman and Amelia Earheart. The most poignant recording was the one made at a concentration camp. The recently liberated man is in tears, and repeats the words "mummy, mummy". It's the end of side 6 for those interested

Thanks for posting this, very interesting. I own a similar set of records called "I can hear it now", also with voices of Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, Zeppelin explosion and others. My 15 year old son loves to listen to it, because it brings history back to life in a much more authentic way than TV. Probably not worth much from a collectors perspective, but definitely one man's treasure.

Andreas, your set sounds very interesting. I agree that sets like this usually aren't worth a lot of money, but from a historical pespective they are fascinating. I never knew that I could actually hear the Nuremberg trials, or Earheart and H.G. Wells.

I agree, it does bring history to live rather than seeing old silent film reels of them (if they even exist at all)

Just found that someone has already made youtube recordings of "I can hear it now". This is Side 1 of VOL1, but the other sides are also there on the same channel of 78rpmbum. Enjoy.
