Looking for help on Ediphone shaver.

Post by martinola »

I'm trying to convince a couple of Ediphone shavers to work. I think I've got belts that will work for everything except the one that drives the feedscrew. It's a tricky one, because there doesn't appear to be a way of adjusting the tension. Does anybody know what the proper belt size is? Any and all thoughts will be appreciated.

It's been a while since I used mine, but it has two belts, both on the main motor pulley. One drives the shaving fan, and the other drives everything else. The original belt is not flat but v-shaped on the bottom to better fit the pulley groove, but I would think that a regular flat leather replacement belt used for phonographs (many of which don't have a tensioner) would work. Just gauge the tension before splicing the ends as you would with a phonograph. This would eliminate sizing requirements for a rubber or other belt which you don't splice together.

Thanks coyote.
I've been thinking of splice-able belting as my next step, but I wanted to check and see if anybody knew of an off-the-shelf belt before I do that. I don't know what other shavers are like, but the two I'm working on take 3 belts; fan to motor, motor to mandrel, mandrel to feedscrew. I'll check my spare flat belting and see if it will fit into the v-pulleys. Thanks for your help.
