SOLD: Edison Home Unusual $200

Post by Crank_it_up »

I’m offering up this unique Edison Home Model A phonograph. Take a look at the pictures and decide if it’s for you. Note the raised boss with a low serial number of 13700. Also note there is not a Data plate behind the feedscrew. And it has the nickel plated patent plate on the front. It has a strong smooth running motor but needs a new belt. Crank is original but the wood handle is froze to the crank. The mandrel has a small dent not affecting play and not visible with a record. The green oak case has been refinished with a new decal. Case is solid and sports a dealer badge from a Canadian dealer. So, is it made up from parts of two machines? Maybe it is. Could it be that it’s because it was Canadian? I certainly don’t know. But for now it’s for sale as is. If I don’t sell it complete it will be sold in parts. If you don’t want it all and only want parts PM me with your wants and first to claim parts is how I’ll sell them. I will not sell the motor in pieces. It’s a solid complete motor. The case will only be sold complete with lid. There is no reproducer. Shipping costs will be actual charge. Payment will be check or money order. Thanks for looking. Joe

It is very nice. Does it have holes where a data plate was nailed on behind the feedscrew?

I believe that that serial number range only had the ID plate on the front and the raised bose with the serial number on it. I would have to dig out my records for further info and will try to add it tomorrow. Nice phonograph for the price. If I did not have two of them I would buy it as it does not seem to need a lot of work. Tom

There is no sign of a data plate being attached anywhere other than where it is.
Thanks, Joe

Hey Joe,

This is another great excuse for us to get together and have a few beers. I'll take it and we can plan an afternoon together.

Thanks,
Raphael
