Dan, Stan, and I traveled to the California Expo from Oregon and back which was over 1000 miles each way. In previous years we've hit the antique shops in search of a treasure but those shops have been marginal at best. So this year we visited collector friends along the route. Those visits proved to be most enjoyable. Here are photos from our visits and from the Expo.

Re: Road Trip to California Expo & Back
On the way to the Expo we visited a prominent Central California collector. One of the first things I noticed was one of my Gourd-O-Horns on a very early and desirable brass mandrel Suitcase Home. I jokingly asked how early he got up to install the horn on his machine. He replied that it's been on the Home since returning from the Midwest Expo. So it's official, Gourd-O-Horns have arrived!

Overall I was very pleased with the California Expo. As a seller I was busy both days and sold reasonably well. On Sunday I believe there were over 160 that came into the Expo. As a buyer I came home with a really nice Zonophone and a cute little Nipper & Trademark item. The live auction was tons of fun. Stan went home with a Berliner tip tray and I purchased two Victor pocket mirrors. Sorry no photos of those.

It was good to see you and thanks for posting the photos. Driving a distance to the show was worthwhile!

Re: Road Trip to California Expo & Back
This was the first time my wife and I attended the EXPO and we had a great time. We also learned several things. One is we needed to go with more money. Two if you see something that you really like buy it (someone else will if you don't). Three make a list of things you are after (there will be so many cool things you will forget). Last is make arrangements to stay the entire weekend, one day was not enough, the vendors kept putting things up as items were sold. You will also come out in several pictures that are posted by others people, my wife or I come out in a lot of the posted pictures here and on Facebook. We had a great time and we enjoyed being with all of you. See you next year.
