Here is a kind of rare Zonophone model D with an aftermarket Linene fibre horn. The horn is in actually nice shape for the material it is made of and its age. There is a hairline crack on the bell of the horn and a small piece missing where the elbow goes. The elbow covers the bad spot so that is not even noticeable. It has a correct closed face reproducer and correct crank. The felt on the turntable looks to be original. Oh, yea the arms are original too. There is NO celluloid tag on this machine and no sign that there ever was. I am told that this is correct. 3800.00 + 75.00 shipping. Find another Zonophone D with this horn for that price! Payment through paypal F&F. First to post SOLD gets it. I have tried to picture all angles. I have Just listed this on ebay for 3800.00+75.00 shipping. So, I would only get like 3500.00. So, the new price is 3500.00 + 75.00 shipping
NEW LOW PRICE 3200.00+ 75.00

Actually, when these horns were offered in the Zonophone catalogs, they were marketed as "Linene."

It is odd that the horns are numbered 1, 3, 4, 2 from left to right.

I like how he rudely says...
“Find another Zonophone D with this horn for that price“
Your dealing with lifetime collectors who probably bought something like this years ago for a fraction of the price!
I remember in the late 70s buying wood horn phonograph for less then $100.

It's not rude, I don't think--I'm not a "lifetime collector" but then again I wasn't alive back then. For many younger collectors, these prices are about what they're going to be--and if everything was priced the way it was in the past I'd already have bought the Model T Ford I want, as soon as I could get $350 together for a high-radiator 1924 touring car. Might even be able to get side curtains and the electric self-starter as well. The $100 finds of the 1970s are fun to hear about from other collectors, but I'm not upset at present prices--I just buy seldom, and enjoy the ones I have. Many other young collectors are doing much the same.
Trying to find a D-model Zonophone with a nice condition Linene horn is probably going to be tricky anyway nowadays--I think it's more of a figure of speech than something deliberately rude.
I don't have $3500, so I really don't have a horse in this race, but it's still a nice phonograph even at that price. It looks more like a museum exhibit.

Thanks, George! I wasn’t aware of that! Do you know if these also made by Crane Brothers? Learning is the best part of this hobby!phonogfp wrote: Tue Aug 23, 2022 9:08 pm Actually, when these horns were offered in the Zonophone catalogs, they were marketed as "Linene."

You're welcome, John! I don't know who manufactured these horns for Zonophone. That's something I'd like to learn!JohnM wrote: Thu Aug 25, 2022 7:31 amThanks, George! I wasn’t aware of that!
