Found: Edison Cylinder Player

Post by Jop Amberola 30 »

Hi all,

I want to take the plunge and buy my first early Edison cylinder player. Something like a Standard or Home model in nice original good working shape with lid and small horn (don’t have much display space). Will pay a fair price. Will need shipping to Joplin, MO zip 64801.

Please let me know what you have. Thanks!

If it's your first cylinder player, do yourself a favor and buy one that play both two and four minute cylinders. You'll pay about $50 more but it's well worth the little bit extra.

Or consider buying a Wilson Home electronic machine from forum members Don Wilson. ;)

Steve,

If you ever get down toward Memphis, I have a couple of Edison Standards and a very good Triumph you might be interested in. I have a Standard B with the 2/4 minute gearing in good shape, I also have a Standard E that needs mechanical adjustment, works well but has a bit of a warble, and Triumph D With 11 panel horn that plays beautifully. Just let me know of any interest or need of photos.

Thanks,

Matt

A Columbia Q from a forum member. Small reasonably priced cylinder machine to see how I like cylinder collecting before moving forward.

I like nice Q. It's small, rugged, reliable, and it's a good machine to visually see how a spring motor operates.
