Now I see why I send out my spring work to be done. That "boing" made me crack up also.

That just looks painful. I used to repair clocks, and pulling the spring from an american-made eight day clock was scary enough. I used to use spring clamps to contain them. I don't feel confident enough to pull any springs from any of my phonographs. Guess I scare easily.

You're not alone... I have a healthy respect for the strength of the springs, and the body parts I would like to keep intact!bbphonoguy wrote:I don't feel confident enough to pull any springs from any of my phonographs. Guess I scare easily.

Your daughter is a woman after my own heart, and obviously has excellent taste!phonojim wrote:COOL!
My older daughter still has the silver tree her grandparents bought when they moved to Florida in 1966.

Shane, thanks again for posting your own spring cleaning videos first. I sure am glad that I learned from you and not from this guy.
I don't like the "throw in a bucket" technique, I prefer to manually (carefully) unwind the spring so I see how it was installed. I use Mechanics gloves to protect my hands and to keep a good grip and never had any problems. Of course you have to stay focused on what you're doing, no place for ADD.
