Saw this for sale in CT, looks like the guts are missing, ever seen one of these? Brand?

That looks like a few radio cabinets I've seen, similar in concept to this one:

If a radio, I'd guess the controls were under the lid, and some type of fancy extension speaker was hooked up to it.

I first thought sewing machine. But the lid would have to flip over and become level with the top.

My Aunt had a very similar cabinet in her dining room she used for liquor. Her dining room set was of a similar design and was purchased ca.1940.

I agree with "edisonclassm." My official guess is a wine server/cabinet. Google this term: cellarette

Again, it is my guess, who knows - maybe it is an early radio in a period cabinet, but it doesn't look very phonograph-like to me..... Any other opinions?
