WANTED : Tonearm assembly for HMV99 portable.
The tonearm socket on the HMV99 is a thin fragile casting. It is vulnerable to damage and mine has succumbed.

Hello! HMV is not a very commonly available machine. I will suggest you to get it repaired by an expert wielder. I have got at least one almost similar collar wielded and it’s working smoothly. But first fix it with some gluing material so it smoothly settles in its right setting. Then the wielder will wield it and a chrome plating expert will grind it and put a new layer of chrome over it. I am not sure of the cost in your country but it’s a less than USD 5 job here.
Cheers

Or you could order a brass reproduction in a shop. This will ensure eternal functioning and no more problems.

Re: WANTED : Tonearm assembly for HMV99 portable.
Thank you both, but I found a tonearm assembly among my spares which although not HMV could be adapted to fit.
I never liked the 99 and sold it on as a modified machine. Even so I recovered my outlay.
