Columbia N Survey

Post by TinfoilPhono »

A year and a half ago I posted a thread soliciting information about Columbia Type N Graphophones in collections today (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=49077). I got over 50 responses, which I very much appreciated. But I'm sure there must be many more out there. I'd like to build a large enough database to be able to (hopefully) draw some statistically viable conclusions.

If you have an N, or a Thornward, in your collection, please post it here or if you prefer, email me at [email protected] with the following:

- serial number
- reproducer -- (gutta percha or aluminum?)
- on/off switch -- (stamped "SWITCH" or plain?)
- spring barrel -- (brass or cast iron?)

And any other details of interest.

If you have an N coin-op, I'd appreciate the following:

- serial number
- reproducer (gutta percha or aluminum? With side set screw or not?)
- crank (conventional or with winding gear mounted directly to crank shaft?)

If you have a Thornward, please indicate if the decal is rectangular or banner style.

Owner information will be kept confidential.

Thanks for your help with this research project.

Hi Rene,

Can you tell me if I submitted my info? I don't see a post from me in the linked thread.

Best regards,
Fran
