Similar machines were produced by several French manufacturers. Here is a typical example :

I have one of these, named Concert Automatique, made in Evry. I've seen some Rymophones as well, one of them was a tabletop, the other is what is shown in Roger's post, quite similar to the Concert Automatique with bowed instead of straight legs. All machines share identical components, with a variation on the arm, that could be straight or with a curve like the one in the photo. Another variation is the model with two horns (and arms and soundboxes, that had both to be placed in the same groove spire at the start to double the volume), a huge beast that I almost bought some years ago, but eventually gave up as it was too big, too loud and too cumbersome to play. A French collector told me once that all these machines were produced by Pathé, that licensed the commercialization to a number of outfits around France. I bought mine from the descendant of a café owner that had the machine to entertain customers. Judging from the number of extant models, it seems that every other café in France had one of these machines. It is a great design, very robust and the best sounding Pathé record player, even better then the large Pathéphones like the model 18 (or its later counterpart nr 180). It is also great to entertain guests with its coin operation and automatic stop after a fixed number of turns. Although not designed for it, it can play the 50 cm records, but you have to unscrew its armrest.
