10 Historic personal recordings from Humboldt Nebraska

Post by Skihawx »

I have these ten home recordings from July 1932. They are recorded on aluminum and contain various topics. Of interest is the fact that they are known to be of Waggener family of Humboldt Nebraska. Usually you find recordings like this and do not know who they are. Evidently John had three sons who also became doctors. However one of them, Dr. H A Waggener was interested in personal recording machines. In July 1932 he went from Hollywood back home to Nebraska to record his family. One recording was his father talking about he experience in medical college in Kentucky. Others talk about fishing. One is titled Mother's voice. In all there are 10 recordings, although one is bent. I really am trying to put a value on these as I am thinking it is time to sell them. I did discover that John A. Waggener, physician and surgeon, was born at Burksville, Cumberland County, Kentucky, October 6, 1852. I think these would be most interesting to a phonograph/record collector who had an interest in the medical field. Or someone from Nebraska? I just think these have great historical value to the right person.

How about finding descendants of the Waggener family??? Besides any interest that they may have, I would think that in general, interest and value would be low.

Agreed. Perhaps the library or local historical society in Humboldt would be interested, especially if you also also provide a transfer of these to CD or MP3.
