New 78 stylus for my audio-technica turntable

Okay, so my new 78 stylus for my audio-technica turntable arrived today. So I can once again play my latter 78's on my modern turntable. Plus I bought a second head shell for it. So instead of replacing the stylus. I just remove the head shell with the 33&45 stylus, and put the 78 in. Much easier now.

That's the same cartridge I use on my old (very old!) 78-dedicated Empire 598 turntable, and it's a good one! Sooner or later I'm going to get a variable-speed turntable: my records tend to be on the old side, with all sorts of odd speeds.

Your solution with the two headshells is great. These days I don't even have a way to play L's, so I can keep the Empire at 78.

What do you do with the sound? I turn all my equalizers all the way down from 20 to 70, or even 150 hrz. Seems like pretty good sound.

I use a pair of TEAC PowerMax 160/2 stereo speakers. The are powered speakers, so I can plug the turntable directly into them, since it has an internal amplifier.

I have a nice modern turn table that plays 33 and 45, but has a built in strobe to adjust the speed and set it. My question is if i set the speed to 45 and turn up the strobe to speed it faster, can i play 78's on it?
Its a very good qualulity turntable, but i didnt know if there was a way to make 78's play on it. I wish they made a modern quality turntable that played the 78's

I doubt that your speed control would allow you to go as high as 78, but I might be wrong.
Some sound restoration programs will allow you to make a digital transfer at the slower speed and then reprocess it to whatever speed or pitch you prefer.
Sometimes it works well, other times not. Transferring at a slower speed will naturally take a lot longer!

Stylus is a SURE M78S

That Shure has been a well regarded cartridge for years. I know of one high profile 78 mastering engineer who liked to use it a lot for his professional transfers, but supposedly they've changed something about it, and it's not quite as good anymore. Not to claim that it's a bad purchase or anything. I'm sure it performs well, as per Shure's longstanding reputation.
