A true gentleman to our hobby. Very gracious with his time and knowledge to everyone. He will be missed. Let's put something together as a community to support his wife and childhood sweetheart. She must be devastated right now. I really "clicked" with Don over many years. A very good man in many different ways. Prayers to the family for sure.

Such a wonderful man. Always grinning, good-humored. And always willing to help, seemingly never inconvenienced. He made everyone he met feel truly special. Don will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and certainly by the citizens of Milan, Ohio -- Edison's Birthplace -- where Don was rightly regarded as that town's other National Treasure.

I'm really at a loss. Having know Don & his wife for 30 plus years, all I can say is you will never find a nicer person.. Our hobby has lost an icon and there will certainly be a void at all future phonograph show. Condolences to Bobbie , his family and friends. RIP Don

I too don't really know what to say.

It was great to see Bobbie back at the Wayne show last year, but it never occurred to me that Don wouldn't be at the next one. If anyone was a "fixture" of the various shows - and the hobby at large - it was Don. We're all feeling that void today.

My condolences and best wishes to Bobbie and the rest of Don's family.

I have to say that Don Gfell was truly my biggest influence in phonographs and life. Don was like a member of my family for much of my life. He always kept track of me as I traveled from show to show. I am sure he is finally in true Edison heaven. The town of Milan will never be the same but will always have a special place in my heart. Prayers for Bobbie and his family and friends.

It is a very sad day for our collecting community. We have lost a giant in our field who was a friend to all who knew him. May Don rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
