A shame, but at least you got your money's worth in parts.

A big shame, its one of them if you don't know how to restore something don't touch it. Even though there was water damage the old veneer could have been saved. But now its a total loss, no way to restore it with out another cabinet. I will start the parting probably tomorrow. Forgot to mention if anyone needs anything from it let me know, we can work something out.

Try to soak the veneer off the back. That's some great looking stuff.
Last summer I was given a C250 cabinet (oak) which had been made into a wine rack. It was pathetic. I did salvage some original veneer, but very little of the original was on the cabinet. I finally gave up and just threw it out, mirror shelves and all. I hope I can use some of the veneer on my VV-50.

..and to me, this is what makes our hobby so much fun. 9 out of 10 times I go out, I don't buy because of condition, or rarity (lack of), or cost. But the 10th time, when I find "treasure", that's what makes it worth the search. When an auction lists "Victrola" who knows what it might be, a VV-XX, nope, a Circassian Brunswick, nope, an Edison DD A-375- yes!!If you watch TV, we must not be the only ones... American Picker (watching it right now- how do those guys make any money- oh yea TV contract), Pawn Stars, Auction Kings, Treasure Hunters, everyone is searching for that one great item. I'm waiting for the knock on the door- stay tuned for the upcoming premiere of "Crazy phonograph guy who drives all over the place searching for cool phono stuff".. OK, I'll work on that title a bit!

Well, at least it's worth what you paid for it, if not more.
