I am selling an Englewood Musicalphone from a private collection. This phonograph is all original including the uncommon petal horn repainted like original. I have included a photo (2nd and 4th from the top) which shows an original horn sold 4 years ago in a Donley auction. The elbow is unique as it screws into the end of the horn. The 2-spring motor has been restored, regreased and fine-adjusted for reliable play. The cabinet has been refinished preserving the decal which is in excellent condition.
There is a crack (repaired) near the front of the motor board as seen in the photo. There is some warpage which does not affect appearance or function. You don’t see these complete and original including both the support arm and cross arm. The reproducer has been rebuilt and the paper insert reproduced from an original. A fine example of a rather scarce phonograph.
Historical Background: Englewood, a Columbia mail order business in the early 1900s located in the Chicago area. The Musicalphone was housed in a chestnut case often confused to be oak. Despite this claim it looks like oak to me.
New Price: $950.00 + Shipping extra. To first posted SOLD.
