I ended up choosing the same tone arm as you. I bought 4 off of eBay in UK, and the one from the HMV 157/163 has the best stock tone arm geometry. All of the others I bought would need an extension tube to make the offset angle closer to ideal.

The next step for me is the cabinet, for which I'm currently working out the ideal footprint given the motor, winding crank, and other parts. I was a little concerned about things getting off balance with a relatively narrow cabinet, but you seem to be doing ok with what looks to be about 14" deep and maybe 19" wide. Thanks again for all of the info and inspiration!
