I wouldn't say that. Just curious about your double standards. I guess you only like to embarrass new members :?
I'm not aware of embarrassing any new members. Stuff is what it is and it ain't what it ain't.

Anyone know the name of the second tune that plays? I recognized it as the background music for the scene in "Grand Hotel" where Lionel Barrymore tries to get into bed while drunk. I've always liked the tune, and never knew it existed outside of the movie.
I don't know what it is either, but it is also used as the opening title music for Laurel & Hardy's "The Music Box" which came out the same year. I remember somebody saying that the tune was "Under The Anhueser Busch", but it really doesn't sound like the cylinder version I have. It would be interesting to know.

Yea, it doesn't sound at all like "Under the Anhueser Busch", at least not like any versions I've ever heard.

How rare is this Conundrum record? And, are there various versions available?

That second tune is "The King's Horses". I used to have it on a Hit of the Week disc.

It's "The kings horses" and was quite popular around 1931. I had it on Harmony (1296-H from memory) by Fred Rich among other versions. The flip side was 'The one man band' with a very inspired Benny Goodman IIRC.

Slightly O/T, perhaps, but:

Any opinion whether cyanoacrylate would work to stabilize splits in Blue Amberols? I get a little leery of using the drill method, especially when the split is just into the grooves....

The old method was to heat up a steel needle and press it into the edge of the record. I have had quite a few rare records that had been 'stitched' like this.

Hmmmm. I never tried that method. I have always drilled a # 46 hole at the end w/o any further lengthening of the crack. If it is a rare BA and into the groove, I usually leave it alone and look for another copy.

Thank you to Hillndalefan, and Syncopeter for identifying the tune. "The King's Horses" is now a record that I hope to find soon!
