Even Dousona's portables had the distinctive wooden tonearm :

Re: VINTAGE Dousona CABINET GRAMOPHONE
The HMV soundbox alone is worth the starting price, and the cabinet appears to be in sound original condition.
The horn has become disconnected from the tonearm, and the lid stay is missing.
If it was closer to home I would be tempted to take it on as a project.

Waste of time. Its missing the two top doors for Petes sake. Just buy the complete one for £100 and be done with it!

Given that it would have been impossible to shut the top doors with the horn in it's present position, they have been removed.Steve wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 4:23 am Waste of time. Its missing the two top doors for Petes sake. Just buy the complete one for £100 and be done with it!
It would not surprise me if the seller still had them lying about somewhere.

Re: VINTAGE Dousona CABINET GRAMOPHONE
Maybe, but they're clearly not shown and they are not included in the sale. That's not worth the risk in my opinion. Why not just buy a complete one in very good condition with the correct soundbox and enjoy it straight away? I doubt it'll sell and you might get it for under a £100?epigramophone wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 7:12 amGiven that it would have been impossible to shut the top doors with the horn in it's present position, they have been removed.Steve wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 4:23 am Waste of time. PS - Well, it's either sold (and rescued by hopefully a sensible buyer) or the seller has got exasperated by reading this thread trying to understand the baffling logic of some collectors, and promptly withdrawn it in disgust! Maybe he / she thought that someone would buy it to use for repairs of the other wreck.
