Question About a Victor Horn

Do they put PAT APL'D FOR on the repro horns? If so how can you tell a older repro from a Original horn?

On the smaller reproduction brass bell horns, I have never seen patent information. I have not seen one with a shoulder that makes it easy to use attach an elbow on a rear mount machine. I have not looked at one of the reproduction #19 flowered horns to see if there is patent information.

There are a couple of ways to recognize a reproduction 14" horn designed for cylinder machines.
1) There is no raised bead where the brass meets the steel body.
2) Many of the reproduction 14" horns with a black steel body and brass bell do not have a crimped small end. The end is another piece that is soldered to the tapered steel body. (In my opinion the reproduction horn made by the Smiths is the best because it has the crimped small end. Unfortunately, they do not make them anymore.)

No - I've seen many that do not.

Thanks George, I look for other clues to determine if a !4" horn is original or not so I have not paid much attention to patent information. Jerry
