Yes, very sad news. Not that I might have had any chance to see him playing live, or that he had been interviewed and aired on TV in the last 30 years (not over here, at least), but the thought that he was still alive was quite thrilling.
May he rest in peace.

Just occurred to me that Dion (DiMucci) and the Belmonts, who released some rare 78s, would qualify. Dion is still alive, as is one of the original Belmonts (Angelo D'Aleo).

Seems to me I remember Robert Clary, who passed today, made a few 78s.

Just found out that some of Neil Sedaka's early 1960s hits were released on 78 in several South American countries.

Hard to say if he was mentioned on this thread that is now spreaded over four pages, however Harry Belafonte passed away yesterday, aged 96 (!!!).
These are very sad news for me, as I owned his 78 hit Banana Boat / Star-o since my earliest childhood, and I remember him ever since.

Ray Anthony, trumpet player, arranger, band leader, actor, and the last surviving member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, is still with us at 101 years of age.
I know this because I just fished out his 1953 78 of the Dragnet theme out of a new box of records.

I just realized that multi-language world citizen Caterina Valente is still alive, aged 92.
