I don't know much about them.. but I haven't seen one in oak AND with the lampshade. That cabinet is really nice...

I've always liked these, but I guess so does everybody else as they always go for a good chunk of change.

I don't care much for the drab looking oak - we got a lot of it this side of the pond and it was definitely the utilitarian wood of choice but I bet this would look great in a dark red luxurious mahogany (more expensive option) or an ebonised finish with gilt fittings. I'd have to change that shade though. It's hideous.

I'd like a Phonolamp but they rarely if ever turn up over here. They turn up in a specialist auction in Germany but usually make a few thousand Euros.

Looks the right furniture to adorn a boudoir in Storyville.

Looks like a great sale. There are some other real great items available.

Not everyone. I always thought they were strange.

As a collector I want what is less frequently found. For a long time I had an oak Victrola X. It had the driftwood oak finish and it was gray. It was in excellent original condition yet appeared dreary. I want a mahogany fancy case Victor MS. I'm a buyer for a mahogany Edison Gem. OK, I'll settle for a mahogany Fireside. So, yes, I'd welcome an oak Modernola into my collection.

A driftwood oak X would probably bring decent money today simply for the finish, as gray and other neutral colors seem to be in at the moment.
