New Collector
Today I gave a VV-50 to Luke. He will attend 7th Grade next year here in Lubbock. Back in March I presented a lesson on the old phonographs to his Social Studies class. He was very interested in the hobby so it was enjoyable to give him a Victrola, needles, and records to go with it. In this way we can pass on these machines and the music to the rising generation. In the photo, I am showing him how to operate it.

Re: New Collector
Awesome!!!! He will never forget this experience. I have given away several phonographs to younger kids that show interest in them. It doesn't hurt to try to spark some new collectors. Great Job!!!!

Wonderful to see this. The hobby must continue with interest of the young. Thank you for sharing.

Re: New Collector
Agreed! This is very cool - I was "middle school" age when I started noticing and being interested in antiques/victrolas. Now at 40 years old, I am an avid collector.
This is how it starts!
Thank you! - Chris

You're one of the good ones Don. I hope he gets lots of joy out of that machine.

That is wonderful, and kind of you. I have done the same with a 2/4 minute Edison Standard!

The VV-50 is a wonderful machine! I just got one. The case is lovely and I think the sounds is great too. I love how sturdy the handle is as well. What a nice gift! I have no doubt the influence will be felt strongly by him and others who are and hear it. Well done!

Re: New Collector
I'm trying, without much success, to buy a VV-50 at the moment so any gifted would be even more appreciated!
At 55, I'd like to pretend I'm still a "young" collector if that helps?
But seriously, these acts of kindness never cease to surprise me. I'm sure he will treasure that machine and hopefully turn half of his pals into machine collectors.
