Re: Show us your reproducer
I forgot about the Odeon Grand I have. Looks great and sounds incredible.

Re: Show us your reproducer
Here in the UK, phonographs have reproducers and gramophones have soundboxes.
The Astra and the Pianina were two of the largest soundboxes sold in the UK, and I have photographed them with a G&T Exhibition to illustrate just how large they are. Indeed the Astra is so large that the rear coupling is offset to enable it to fit a gooseneck.
Another interesting feature of the Astra is the diaphragm, which is made of compressed silk.

The Automatic Soundbox is a good example of a device which did what few people wanted done.
It's unwise use of pot metal for the plunger has ensured that few survive in working order.

Re: Show us your reproducer
Here are a few of mine. The first one top left is called “The Salon” Sound Box, Swiss-Made. The golden one is identical to the late Edison needle cut portable reproducer-except for a different front bezel. The black one is a Thorens No.16, then an RCA Victor with the nice art deco style “V”, and finally a Carryola Master “Add-A-Tone”.

I bet the astra and pianina weren't as large as the BROS soundbox I have ?epigramophone wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 8:56 am Here in the UK, phonographs have reproducers and gramophones have soundboxes.

I think unique soundboxes (well, I feel sure yours is and unless a box full of the silver / black ones is found so is mine) - with unique diaphragms.Steve wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:59 am HMV No. 18.
