I do not think this happens. I am extremely careful with everything, both mine and others, but there is risk involved transporting machines. I would not consider hauling things just to show them. I did bring this machine with the hopes of learning more about it and had no intentions of offering it for sale.Do people bring things to the show to simply show them off? Or do you bring to sell only?

Jerry, my friend, are you directly contradicting me? Think back to Union about 10 years ago, there was a gold-plated Opera that Dominic DiBernardo was showing off, and a few years later he had a newly restored Nicole Grand Format overture music box. Neither were for sale. And I recall Steve Andersen bringing a Class M several times to Union and Orlando, again, just for showing off. You will recall he was the fellow selling posters. Also, in the early days of Orlando, there was a fellow showing a special Nipper display and a Columbia BS, simply so he could acquire some expert information about them. I believe the fellow’s name was Raphael.

The Phonautograph that Jean-Paul Agnard demonstrated at Union some years ago was in the "show," not "sale" category. I also believe Paul Baker brought along an Auxetophone that was primarily for show a few years earlier. I agree that these are exceptions.
