Matching Cabinet for Victor V?

Post by jvic »

Is there such a thing as a matching cabinet for a Victor V? Any pictures of one? What are they selling for today and where to find one? Same questions for a Victor IV? :?:

Thinking of selling my Victor V with Oak horn and wonder if having a matching cabinet would make it worth more and more desirable?

It's a nice idea, but many collectors would buy the cabinet from you without the machine, if you had one!
From what I've seen, cabinets made to match popular horn machines are offered MUCH less frequently than the machines themselves. Prices are rather high when they do come up.

I don't think that having a matching cabinet would increase the value of your Vic V. Increasing the price of the pair even by just the cost of the matching cabinet would price some potential buyers out.

Yes. There was one for sale on the Yankee Trader section a year or so ago from Brianu.

I have some accurately reproduced copies of the "Cabinet that Matches" catalog. I'm happy to send one to anyone for $7 postage paid. It's an interesting catalog that show matching cabinets for all the rear mount machines I though VI. It also shows other rarities like the VV-XX and the Auxetophone. There's also a page on Victor horns. The flowered horns were identified by numbers based on the width of the bell and the black Japanned (brass bell) horns were identified by letters. It's a treasure of information. The original catalog was printed by The Talking Machine Company which claimed to be the largest exclusive Victor wholesaler.

Money back if you're not delighted with your $7 purchase and you can keep the catalog!!!

End of commercial... normal programming on crap-o-phones to be returned in a moment. Frankenphones at 6pm.
