APS California Expo August 19th & 20th

Post by Jerry B. »

I'm still recovering from all the fun and excitement of the Midwest Expo and the California Expo is just around the corner. The California Expo is always tons of fun. In addition to the sale there's the Saturday night banquet with silent auction. APS does a good job promoting the event and attendance is strong both days. I'm busy working on things to offer for sale. I hope to bring a Col BKT, Victor V, Standard Type AA, Columbia B (Eagle), 2&4 minute Standard B, Standard Type X2, and a Fireside with #10 Cygnet. Can't wait!

Mostly I was trying to promote the Expo. If I presell something that's fine too.

Jerry. Promoting the show is great and a wonderful thing for you to do. The point of the comment was to point out that by far your post was an advertisement for things you wanted to sell with pictures Some of which you were not even taking to the show. I believe you already have posts in Yankee Trader for all the same items. Not sure why you would repost them here again under the guise of promoting the Show. But the small portion of your post that was really promoting the show I am sure is greatly appreciated

Jerry was talking about the show, and pointing out the items he was hoping to bring in a general post about the upcoming show. No prices were mentioned in this post. At all. I don't see an issue with it. Lots of times potential buyers will ask if anyone is bringing something specific to a show, and that isn't an ad, either. Lots of times people will attend shows when they KNOW what they will find there.

This is a non issue IMHO.

Is that an Amberola 1A or 1B? For $1700 I'd jump on that if I was closer.

It's a 1-B with a Diamond A reproducer. I'm happy to send photos to any interested party.

Thanks for the Expo info - ALL of it...

Who cares if you double posted some of it, other than the posting police? :?

And... I owe victrola20 a public apology. I did NOT see the prices in grey under Jerry's photos when I made my post above.
Jerry, you are a very bad, bad man. :x
(He's good for some things though!)

I think he deserves a 10 crapophone demerit for that one! :D

I always cringe when I read or hear someone comment about "show prices." That implies that prices are always high at a show and it's a place where "wealthy" collectors go to add something to their collection. That is simply not true. To sell at a show you must competitively price your items. You must offer a buyer good value both in condition and dollar value. I showed photos with prices simply to show a potential expo attendee that, yes, there are good items and good prices at an expo. I wanted to promote the expo. If I presell something in the effort I can live with that. Some dealers don't even price their things at an expo. "So sit on it Ralph!" :D
