Double VAT sounds like fraud to me. That can't be correct surely?Marco Gilardetti wrote: Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:16 am I beg your pardon for being offensive; I took for granted that at this point in time anyone realised that international sales of parts (which was the topic of this thread) was totally killed by the brexit, due to double VAT, duties fares and extra postage inspection, which makes every purchase absolutely anti-economical for the rest of the world.

Re: thephonographshop.com
To get back a bit more on topic - the phonograph shop's initial inventory was that of the late Ron Sitko who was one of the most significant (and generally cheapest) supplier of (mostly) reproduction parts for many years. He attended all the shows in the US and was well known to us here. He is most definitely missed.
I'm glad to know that the phonograph show is willing and able to help our overseas friends.

Being in Australia, I know all about import taxes and the paperwork needed, that is why I was so impressed with Brian at thephonographshop.com who is well prepared to deal with the madness of shipping internationally. 6 days door to door was just amazing.

As for all the politics nonsense. We all deserve what we vote for especially when we freely vote numbties into power. I grew up in the punk era and I wish all this madness had happened way back in the 1970's when it would have been more suitably anarchic.

Does the discussion of politics really have a place here?
In today's world such discussion on (relatively anonymous) Internet forums generally leads to great, pointless and unhelpful enmity. Please, let's not go there.

Indeed. In the days when this forum had an active moderator, this thread would have been deleted days ago and multiple members would have been given warnings.

Well said. The string of rebukes was getting as tiresome as it was unnecessary.
On subject, I'm pleased to learn that this enterprise started as the take-over of Ron Sitko's business / stock. Whilst I never bought too much from Ron I did have cause to contact him a few times and always found him extremely helpful and obliging. I'm pleased that what he started has been an important foundation for the current operation. Long may it continue.
