I am currently restoring a rough and early 18" glass eyed Nipper. His ears are missing and I haven't found many images that would be helpful in trying to scale the new ears. If anyone has one with the ears and would be kind enough the post some mug shots so that I can scale them it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Here are a couple of Nippers. The ears differ slightly between the two. But I suspect the lighter colored one has had some work done to it besides being repainted. Or maybe there was just some variation between Nippers when they were made.

Compared to more modern Nippers the ears on the early glass eyed Nippers are much thinner. I would suggest glueing layers of paper shopping bags until you have the thickness that suits you.

Here are some close-up pictures of the ears on my 18 inch glass I Nipper I recently found.
A couple of old photos of a large 41" and 18" I had years ago. Yon can see on the 18" that his right ear is way up compared to some other examples.

Thank you to everyone for the pictures. They are a great help. I will post some pictures of the finished Nipper, (it might be a while).

You might want to make a wire frame mockup for the shape of the ear, then papier mache over it. The wire will give it support strength. I used that method to restore broken/missing pieces on Pathé roosters.

Nipper is back among the living. The collar and mouth paint are still original, the ears and right foot are new. He won’t win best of show, but he’s good enough for my display.
