Re: EMG gramophone
A couple of last year's photos - it was such a privilege to see Ian again (thank you Graham!) and to hear this superb gramophone.

I can attest you're not the only person who wishes he had the funds for this one, believe me!BassetHoundTrio wrote: Thu Jul 13, 2023 6:11 pm The export horn would indeed solve the issue of smaller doors. I don't know why I never thought of that. Grateful to have a 36" front door which made getting an Oversize in easily. But more importantly, this surely must be THE EMG gramophone, given the provenance. I'll see what photos I have from a year ago, when Graham took me to Ian's house. I wish I had the funds for this one - surely, the best of the best, and my ears can attest to the superb sound quality.

Yes, Steve, the of mention standard and EMG/Expert in the same sentence is incongruous, I doubt there are two identical EMGs or Experts, these were really cottage productions. As to the horn, wouldn't it pass by a regular door if disassembled? This is really an interesting machine in nice condition and with a great provenance, but the size of the horn limits the interest of prospective buyers. I would be tempted if I hadn't already one EMG and two Experts, and definitely no place to fit one like that unless I move to a larger house.![]()
I recently moved to a bigger house but now it just feels small again. I wonder why!![]()

So wonderful to see dear Ian! I'll see if I can find my photo of the two of you from last year.

Re: EMG gramophone
I am not sure why or if this happens to anyone else - the photos I posted are inverted, but are normal when I click them to view the full resolution image. Any thoughts why this happens?

Re: EMG gramophone
Never knew why. A similar thing happened to me with a YT video, which I uploaded and resulted sideways! Most annoying, as it remained sideways when being played...

Re: EMG gramophone
Looking through the auctioneers photos there do seem to be quite a number of fastening screws missing, not that this, in itself, would be much of an issue.
On the subject of Prescott I have an entry for the VSCC meeting this coming weekend so if any of you are attending come and find me in the paddock and say hello. I am running No 81.

Are you going both days or just Sat or Sun? As it's not far from me, I was thinking of going, purely as a spectator!emgcr wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 6:08 pm I shall be at Prescott as usual and will be delighted to seek you out Iain. The weather forecast is none too good so pack a brolly !
