I didn’t take this public, he did by slandering me on Facebook. My posting on the TMF was a defense, since I am unable to enter that Facebook forum, which I tried to do but was denied permission.

It is sad that this topic exists on this forum. I always considered this forum to be exceptional in regard to its civility. There have been a few instances, but for the most part, this has been a friendly and troll free forum.

It seems that this could be settled easily by showing the supporting paperwork. If both can show an invoice stating that they are the rightful owner, then we could conclude that this was a clerical error. Maybe it was a mistake that snowballed. Maybe someone did something shady. I don’t know and I have no horse in this race, but rather than dragging each other through the mud, please lay out the simple proof of ownership. That should cut through the BS and reveal the truth of the situation. This forum used to be an escape from drama, not a source.

:D :D ;)
That said (laughed at) only to celebrate Djangos phrase... With all my apologies to both contenders, which I respect.

My posting on the TMF was a defense...

Raphael
Your posting here is no "defense", since none of us know what the hell you're talking about and frankly do not care. My thinking is, that upon learning of the mix-up, your best defense might have been contacting the guy who paid for it, since you did not, and arranging to send the cabinet to him with apologies for an honest mistake. I'm pretty sure that upon resolution of the error, you could have probably expected the buyer to make a final statement that "all's well that ends well" or some such statement. But instead, you decided to shout your innocence from the rooftops, while apparently still in possession of said cabinet, which I do firmly believe you took as the result of an honest error. Shouldn't an honest error be backed up by an honest resolution?

That's all I'm saying on this topic, since as I earlier stated, this is none of my business, except for the fact that you placed in front of all of our noses.

He made a plea for help in an attempt to figure out who took it, which is justified. You’re just trying to inflame the issue further.

His Facebook post was not a plea, it was an accusation of theft, and slanderous. He also falsely stated that he had contacted me and I refused to answer. These are the facts. If you read through the chronology of events, from the moment that I thought I had won the auction, you will see that, yes, mistakes were made and I handled them as honestly and as straightforward as possible. Steve Stanton never once asked me to return the cabinet, and will back me up 100% in this regard.

Furthermore, I have been a contributing member of the TMF for years, and usually make posts that inform others of various matters, not just offering opinions on everything. I have helped many TMF members in various ways, including just a few days ago sending a crane foot to a member at no charge. I do not usually sell parts, but frequently give them away to other members such as this. So, being chastised for defending myself within the phonograph community is unjustified.

Anyone that know Raphael will immediately realize this is a simple mistake that has been blown entirely out of proportion.. It is ridiculous to think someone of his stature that his been in business for many years selling high end items all over the world, some in the 5 figure range would intentionally steal a $500 cabinet and jeopardize his reputation. And then on top of that, would he be so stupid as to turn around and advertise the same cabnet on his own website. Come on people where is your common sense..

It's obvious that Raphael had no recourse then to post on this forum to protect his good name since he was not permitted to rebut on the Facebook group... What would you do if the tables were turned and you were being publicly slandered on a Facebook forum..

If Rafael can show an invoice that proves he is the rightful owner, then it would probably be best to do just that. The court of public opinion is useless. We could go back and forth forever and never discover the simple truth. Proof can be shown and the matter put to rest. It seems that the solution is a simple one. If I had proof of ownership, I would not hesitate to show it.

Either way, if Rafael was not the intended winner of the cabinet, the cabinet should be returned to the rightful owner. It’s past time that someone admits to making a mistake and man up, (whichever person that is).

From Don's perspective it was taken, so his frustration is understandable... I agree with Jerry, Raphael. You're going about this the wrong way, especially since you know you made a pretty big assumption.

You don't need to prove yourself, Raphael. We all know you're a respected member here in the collecting community. An argument just could be made many see you as a reseller that's running a business. Which there's nothing wrong with, it just shows you prioritize your business over the collecting.
