Hi,
Does anyone know who the artist on the attached photo is (at least his full name)?
As the printing quality (an Edison Bell advert from 1905) is rather bad, I can't read most off the name, apart from "Arr......". Internet researches didn't bring any results so far. So, it must have been an artist who didn't record a lot, at least not for Edison Bell.
Thanks in advance!
Helmut

Thanks! I agree to the first word being probably "Signor", rather than a first name.
But for the second word I like to hear a few more opinions ... or, rather than further guessing, getting confirmed the name (including the first name) by someone who read it somewhere else, related to either cylinder records or 78s.

There are many possibilities... SIGNOR ARRIOBAS i read.. or ARRIUCAS...
Is there any catalogue we could check in search of someone that could fit??

Re: Unknown artist for Edison Bell
I am sorry, but I do not have any Edison Bell catalogues. The advert was from 1905, so if anyone has catalogues from around that time, please check if you find a similar name in there.

Re: Unknown artist for Edison Bell
I think it must be Signor Arrigoni who recorded two duets with a Miss Margaret Parker (Miserere from Il Trovatore EB 5551 and One Night in Venice EB 5553).
These appear in the 1903/04 Edison Bell catalogue.
Hope this helps

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the information. That's phantastic to get it confirmed. Do you know the full name of Signor Arrigoni?
Cheers,
Helmut

Dear Helmut,
No, I'm afraid I don't. He is only referred to in the catalogue as "Signor Arrigoni" which may, of course, not be his real name.
If I find out anything more, I'll let you know.
All the best
