What kind of brake is on this L-Door? Also, what does the long bar do on the back of the turntable?

Yeah! I saw this last evening and was curious as I’ve never seen one like that before. I’ll be keeping an eye on this post to learn more.
The bar has to be some sort of automatic brake…no?
The brass colored box brake can’t be original as I doubt Victor would have anything intentionally sit over the motor board seam….it also seems to be getting in the way of the motor board screw…where there should be one.
Does the motor board knob usually go back left corner like that on this model?
I’m sure the seller will get his $199….and more….just because it’s different

That is a VV-XVI “C”, so it would have a bullet brake. I suspect that the rod is supposed to actuate the brake.

Looks like it could be some kind of after market or even homemade auto brake
