Early monarch plate mystery l

So, I'm working on an earlyish monarch and the predog plate is where the "remove to attach rigid arm" plate usually goes.

So I would just move it to where it belongs... To the side with the hinges across from the winding escutcheon side.

But there's no holes there! Nor any variation in stain oxidation (which anyone who's removed a data plate before understands).

I see that some of the fancy trim has been removed to make space for the data plate.

Has anyone seen a factory cabinet with this kind of plate placement? Thanks!

Ps I removed the plate. Not sure that helped solve this mystery.

If I am not mistaken, the data plate on the Victor M should be on the front panel, not on the opposite side of the winding key. Can you find any nail holes or markings there? The place where your data plate is at the moment should have the "Remove to install Rigid Arm" or Remove to install Tapered Arm" plate instead, covering the holes.

Boy would I feel dumb if there were holes on a different side. But there's only 2 sides left... The plate is never on the winding escutcheon side nor on the tonearm bracket attachment side.

There are no holes on either of those options.

And here is one of my other monarchs with the plate removed ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE HINGES ie - across from the winding escutcheon side.

And a Google image search confirms what my 4 other front mount monarchs do, that the plate is usually under the hinges across from the winding escutcheon side.

So my question remains.

Sorry, thought I already replied.

Yes the plates line up so you can look through all 4 holes. I suspect the plates were all identical in that era prior to being embossed.

And the sticker on the base isn't in good enough condition to try to match the serial number to the plate, in case anyone asked.
