Here is a link to the original auction with all of the auction house pics:

I'll attach some pics I took of the machine last night.

Here is a link to some good information on the Amberolas 30-50-75:

If you’re going to take the cylinder mandrel off make sure the motor is completely wound down.

A video demonstrating the problem would be very helpful. It's possible that the half nut is exerting too much tension on the feed screw. On the Amberola 30, 50 and 75 there is a set screw that adjusts the tension of the half nut on the feed screw. See picture below from one of my Amberola 30's. The Amberola 75 should be the same. Move the carriage to the far right to adjust this set screw.

If it's not the problem then try this:

Crank up your Amberola 75 motor sufficiently to play at least one cylinder but with no cylinder on the mandrel AND with the half nut raised off the feed screw. Release the brake and listen to the motor running and watch the mandrel rotate and assure that the carriage moves laterally and freely on the mandrel shaft and straight edge in the rear. If the motor runs quietly and smoothly, the mandrel is rotating freely and the carriage moves freely laterally then it's possible that the half nut is set too low and is exerting too much tension on the feed screw. The Amberola 75 has two strong main springs so maybe this is not the problem but it's worth trying this test anyway.

To Jerry B. .... Jerry, This is not the first time that I have seen a Mahoghany Amberola 75 with Oak Drawers. As matter of fact, I have seen quite a few. Yes, It should correctly have the Mahoghany drawers, but I have seen so many Mahoghany 75's with Oak drawers that I have convinced myself that some were shipped that way.

Bottom line here to the Original Poster/Owner (travisgreyfox), is that you should just be very glad that you got the machine and that the machine is very repairable with parts still being somewhat around. Where are you located if I may ask??!!?? Pennsylvania? ;)

Sorry for the delay! I finally had some time off last week to actually play around with the machine for a few hours before our weekend family camping trip and I'm pleased to say she is purring again. It ended up being the adjustments you guys aforementioned. Thanks again for the help everyone.

The machine also cleaned up well, which I'm pleased about.

Thanks again!

I've always thought the drawers for any Amberola 75 were made out of cheaper nondescript wood and were used on either an oak or mahogany 75.

I think that your're right.. I just looked at the crossection of one, It might be made of cheaper Pine. ...and I guess just stained for Mahogany Or Fumed finish machines..
