When comparing the merits of different "makes" of new old stock needles, it is worth remembering that irrespective of whose name appears on the tin, they were made by a few specialist manufacturers and supplied to the gramophone trade.
Since 1902 The Gramophone Company had bought their needles from William Hall & Co of Studley and, apart from a brief flirtation with Zimmerman in Germany, they continued to do so until the end of production in 1963. I am sure that they were not Hall's only customer.

I gave Chamberlain a second chance at the expense of only a couple dollars. Received the needles yesterday night. I went through the entire pack and found absolutely no duds. Possibly I received a bad batch from a different supplier? Supplier changed? Hard telling. But the product looks great. I've been wrong many times, and this won't be my last. If John is indeed part of the forum, I offer my apology and a thank you. This is exactly the quality that I expect of a new batch of steel needles. Hopefully things stay consistent in the future.
