New Acquisitions + many parts needed Washington A, U.S. Junior.

Post by Ben the phono man »

Hello Everyone,

Wayne was an absolute blast this year, my many purchases aside, I met and reconnected with so many wonderful people that I often only see once or twice a year. The show is one of my favorite times of the entire year. All the machines listed came from the estate of Charley Hummel, Thanks to Neal Hinchman, Chad Shapiro, and Aaron Loyack, great guys by the way. OK, now onto the stuff I need! First off, I bought a Washington "A" graphophone that is missing most of its motor, and the rare gutta percha reproducer. These photos show an accurate representation of what it's missing at the moment. If anyone has these parts, or knows where I can get them, Please let me know.

Another purchase was this U.S. Junior. The 2-4 minute double reproducer was restored with new parts by Paul Baker some time ago, Now, there is an issue with the double feedscrew engaging when it shouldn't. I have spoken with Paul about this and he has been very kind. This machine is missing the original bayonet mount horn. I just stuck a paper mache victor horn I also bought in it, and it happened to fit quite nicely. But I'd rather an original horn. The machine does look quite nice with that horn but the size really overpowers the machine  Paul told me he has two original horns, neither of which are of this style. They are the large mount style. Anyhow, here are some pictures of that machine.
P.S. well it looks like I'm going to have to make a part two post of some other finds. I'll just list what I need here though,
1. long case edison home slotted crank
2. columbia AT trunnion
3. Columbia Q reproducer (first series, the odd looking one)
4. U.S. Junior Horn (bayonet style mount)
5. gutta percha or early aluminum graphophone reproducer
6. spring and drive gears for columbia A (shown above)
7. Edison home "d" main spring
8. Amberola 50 crank
9. Tiny size morning glory horn (just has to be able to fit a Gem crane, doesn't
have to be an original edison horn, just an aftermarket will do :))
10. U.S. Junior Horn (Bayonet style mount)
11. MORE MONEY

Thanks for listening to my antics, Everybody!

I could be wrong but I believe that Ben is looking for a Gem morning glory horn.

Would the Phonograph Shop website have some of the items you are needing? You have quite a few machines in your collection!
