Record Cabinet?

After working with a Craigslist seller for a year (they are in Arizona for the winter) I was able to get him into a realistic price range to work with me. Along with the machine came this record cabinet. But is it really one? Pictures will show that there is no needle holder on the door, and while the door and top are quarter sawn oak the sides and back are not. Its been overcoated with varnish and at some point the front door split in half vertically and was glued together.
But the record holder inserts look correct as does the paper numbering system that is above each section, its set up for 10" records.
At first I though it was a home brew job (and it might be) but looking at the bottom brought up a couple of stamped numbers, and look at the double wall construction process.
The cabinet unlike the machine has seen hard times, on one side a notch was cut out, but it is perfectly done-not like drilling a couple of holes or a roughly cut slot.
Its going to need to be refinished but before I get into it I really would like the forums thoughts.

Interesting design, and it looks legit to me. The second image shows a hole where a needle drawer would have been.

Hi George,
So you are thinking where the slot is? with a push in push out holder?

It would be an actual drawer with a small knob. I bet you'll see witness marks inside. I was looking for an example on line, I know Salter had such a drawer.

Yes you did, That is one of our project machines , it was missing the mechanism when we found it , we were fortunate to have found a basket case US Opera mechanism ,hopefully one day we will get the old boy singiing again.

Yes you did, That is one of our project machines , it was missing the mechanism when we found it , we were fortunate to have found a basket case US Opera mechanism ,hopefully one day we will get the old boy singiing again.

That is absolutely beautiful. The farthest to the top of my want list. I think they are one of the most unique and beautiful phonographs to have ever been built; and the bedplates are just fantastic!! Where did you find your cabinet?
