I haven’t posted here in a long while.
Picked up this project today.
I have already begun cleaning the wood surfaces with Furniture Masque.
Not sure if it is good to use on the leather?
I want to be very careful when cleaning the leather panels and will wait for advice from the experts.

Sorry for the sideways photos.
I used my cell phone.
Can I rotate them?

Gene,
That’s a beautiful machine. I worked on two of these a few years ago and used neatsfoot oil on the leather.
Angelus Brand Prime Neatsfoot Oil Compound Shoes Boots Leather Waterproof Softener Protector Conditioner 8 oz https://a.co/d/8srHeVS
If you put a few drops in the (dashpots) pneumatic lid supports, it softens the leather in there as well and made mine work better.
Good luck with your restoration!

Love the tooled leather credenzas. I missed one close to me a while back that was priced at only $200.

Click on the picture to enlarge and rotate. Most people have the same issue. I know that years ago iPhones began taking pictures that stored a byte to show which direction is "up" on a picture. But not all software (especially older software) checks for that orientation byte.gemering wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2023 9:12 pm Sorry for the sideways photos.

Matt,
Does the Neatsfoot oil also clean and bring some of the color back in the leather panels or do you use GoJo or another cleaner first?
I do not want to do any harm by using the wrong product.
I used Furniture Masque on the wooden areas.
It appears to be very similar to GoJo.
Thanks,
Gene

I don't know what exactly to use, but I would stay away from anything that will soak in and make the leather look dark.

Here is one of mine. The colors are so bright on this one. I don't think they have been touched up. Either it was cleaned or just well preserved.

Quick web search-- found this that says it is a "non-darkening formula" I've never used it--
https://www.mannapro.com/equine/leather ... onditioner
I have used Murphy's oil soap on other leather items, but I haven't worked on a leather Credenza
I've also heard that Leather Honey is a good product-- but again, I haven't used it myself.
