Is this ok?

I have been wondering for a while if you can play a Victor or Columbia acoustic 78 with a 3 mil diamond stylus.
If I were a troll, I would not post on the Talking Machine Forum; I would live under a bridge, post on Reddit, and eat goats for dinner!

Yes. Sometimes that's right. Sometimes a larger or smaller size will give you better results; there's no single "right" choice. If you have a range, try several and listen for which gives the cleanest playback, especially on peaks. Be prepared that the one giving you the least distortion will give you more noise than others. Very often, there's a tradeoff.
